Welcome to Maple Drive! I’m Jaimi, and this is my husband, Jeff. We’re the DIYers behind Maple Drive Design, and we’re so happy you’re here.

Fun fact: Jeff and I are probably the youngest (almost) empty nesters you’ll ever meet. We got married riiiiight after high school graduation and started our family young. Now, our two oldest kids are living in their own apartments. Thankfully, we still have one teenager at home… because we’re not quite ready for full-time empty nest life just yet.

Jeff has his MBA degree, and I’m a registered nurse, but more often than not, you’ll find us working on a house project.

In 2003, we bought our first home: a tiny townhouse with an unfinished basement. We desperately needed the extra space but couldn’t afford to hire it out. At the time, Jeff was working for a construction company and learning the skills we needed, so we decided to tackle it ourselves!

We finished that basement… and never looked back.

That experience showed us how hard work can build real equity. We always stayed in the same school district because we never wanted to uproot our kids, but we did move several times. With each house, we either finished a basement, remodeled a kitchen, or renovated a bathroom. For many years, flipping homes was part of our income.

But this house? We plan to stay here for as long as we can.

Our last home was a beautiful new build and it was a great house, but the backyard was filled with other houses. It was chaotic back there sometimes, and we really felt it. So after finishing the basement, we decided to find a house on a private lot and settle in for the long haul. We found this classic 90s house on almost three acres and the backyard is peaceful and private, and we love it so much… even if the inside needed some updates.

Why “Maple Drive”? No, it’s not our address. It’s actually inspired by a movie. You know those movies that just stick with you? For me, it was "Father of the Bride". If you’ve seen it, you know the house was just as much a character as the actors. It was classic, cozy, timeless. It felt like home.

I was in elementary school when it came out. I remember sitting in the theater with popcorn and Twizzlers, completely captivated. I loved the design of the house, of course, but even more, I loved how much that family cherished each other and their home. Ever since, I've been really passionate about how family intersects with home.

And the address of that fictional house?
24 Maple Drive.

A while ago, Jeff even took me to see the real house in California where they filmed the exterior shots and it absolutely lived up to the hype (See photo circa 2014).

We truly believe every house can become a beautiful, peaceful space. Sometimes it just needs a fresh coat of paint and a few intentional pieces. Other times, it needs a full gut renovation. But either way, our goal is to inspire you to try projects in your own home so that you can love your space a little bit more.

Thank you so much for being here.
